The Executive Council of SAAHE is currently hosted by the Western Cape Region. Council members are:

Wendy McMillan (Chairperson)

Prof Wendy McMillan is Education Advisor to the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of the Western Cape, and National Chair of SAAHE. Her field of expertise is health sciences edu-cation. Dr McMillan has a particular interest in academic support of students, development of health sciences teachers, and facilitating student access, retention and throughput. Dr McMillan has a developing publication record in the field of health sciences education, and is particularly interested in the potential of qualitative research methodologies to provide in-sights into teaching and learning in higher education. She is also involved in quality assur-ance both for her institution and for the Health Professions Council of South Africa.

Francois Cilliers

Dr Francois Cilliers is one of the deputy directors at Stellenbosch University’s Centre for Teaching and Learning. Medically qualified, he also holds a Master’s degree in Higher Edu-cation and is a Fellow of the Foundation for the Advancement of International Medical Edu-cation and Research (FAIMER). He has been involved in educational development and cur-riculum development in the health sciences for about a decade. Dr Cilliers’ fields of interest in health sciences education include educational development practice, assessment and its im-pact on student learning, and capacity development in the arena of educational research skills. He is currently Treasurer of SAAHE and deputy Chairperson of the Southern African FAIMER Regional Institute (SAFRI).
